Vilana is the undisputed queen of white grape varieties of Crete. The organoleptic characteristics of Vilana wine are a moderately deep yellow color, medium intensity of aromas, and flavors showing notes of lemon, orange and herbs. On the palate it is fresh with balanced acidity and medium alcohol. Vilana is found mainly in the districts of Heraklion and Lasithi. The variety can be found in many blends, most notably with Malvasia, Muscat White, Vidiano, Sauvignon Blanc. The character of the wine is ideal for a meal consisting of a large number of different, simple, and sometimes contrasting dishes, a typical way of enjoying food for Cretans.---> Read more...
