Xinomavro is the most significant red grape of northern Greece. There are 4 appellations that feature Xinomavro. PDO Goumenissa and PDO Rapsani require winegrowers to blend xinomavro with native Negoska, and Krassato and Stavroto, respectively. PDO Naoussa and PDO Amynteo, are the two mono-varietal appellations where Xinomavro reveals its deeper character. Xinomavro wines from Naoussa and Amynteo have bright pale to deep red color, high acidity, strong tannins and complex aromatic character from dried flowers, sun-dried tomato, clove, rose petals, tobacco, walnut, olive, brown spice and red berries.---> Read more...
