Medium bodied with moderate intensity on the nose with ripe cherries, raspberry and leather. So much character, with notable extract and judicious use of spicy oak.
Red meat, roasted and strongly flavoured cheeses. Served at 16 - 18 °C.
The vineyards of Malevizi, appellation Dafnes, Heraklion, Crete.
Altitude: 400-500m. Soil: Calcium-clay.
Harvest: Mid-September. Yield: 60-70 hl/ha.
Age of vines: 18 years (average).
Classic vinification process for red wines at controlled temperatures. Maturation in oak barrels for 12 months and further ageing in the bottle for 12 months. Acidity: 6.5 g/L TA, Residual sugar: 2.0 g/L.
